Montana Caravans enjoyed a wonderful six day cross-country ski trip with a North Carolina friend in January.

We skied three days in powder at the Izaak Walton Inn in Essex, Montana (along Highway 2 - Glacier National Park's southern boundary) and stayed in one of the old red cabooses. Then we moved to the Belton Chalet and one of its restored cottages in West Glacier for another three nights.

We also skiied two days in the Park and one day at Big Mountain in Whitefish, Montana.

And even though the temperature plunged to 20 degrees below zero on the day my guest was to leave at noon, we still bundled up and skied one hour on the groomed trails at the Glacier Outdoor Center.

This ski trip will be run next winter, February 17, 2009 through February 23, 2009.
